Old Friends

I have a lot of things to be thankful for as Thanksgiving 2009 approaches. And while I like the challenge of trying to work words into a form that might adequately describe my thankfulness for certain things there are just sometimes when that doesn’t happen for whatever reason.

During this past year, some of you have made it a regular habit to stop by here and read the ramblings I post from time to time. Thank you so much for doing that. And more than that, thank you for your friendship, old friends!

In honor of all this, I leave you with the duo of Roger Miller and Willie Nelson as they sing Roger’s song, “Old Friends.” I hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Old friends, pitching pennies in the park
Playing croquet 'til it's dark
Old friends, mmm old friends.

Old friends, swapping lies of lives and loves
Pitching popcorn to the doves
Old friends, mmm old friends.

Old friends, looking up to watch a bird
Holding arms to climb a curb
Old friends, mmm, old friends.

Old friends, Lord when all my work is done
Bless my life and grant me one, old friend
At least one, old friend

Old friends, looking up to watch a bird
Holding arms to climb a curb, old friends

Old friends, Lord when all my work is done
Bless my life and grant me one, old friend
At least one, old friend
("Old Friends" written by Roger Miller)
